Accommodation Options
Whether you’re camping under the stars or sleeping in one of the community halls, the Christus Rex Pilgrimage provides simple and practical accommodation to support your journey from Ballarat to Bendigo.
Thursday Night – Ballarat
Women and Families
Female pilgrims and families (including children and boys under 12) are accommodated at St Patrick’s Cathedral Halls (3 Lyons St South, Ballarat Central).
- The Main Hall is reserved for women only.
- A Smaller Hall behind the main hall is for parents (both mums and dads) with children.
Please bring your own sleeping mat, sleeping bag, and pillow. Space is limited, so pack light and avoid bulky gear like inflatable mattresses.
Men (12 years and older)
Male pilgrims stay at the Ballarat Mechanics’ Institute (117 Sturt Street, Ballarat).
- Check-in first at St Patrick’s Cathedral Hall before heading to the Mechanics’ Institute.
- Entry is restricted to those with a pilgrim ID issued at check-in.
Friday & Saturday Nights – On Pilgrimage
Camping
All pilgrims are welcome to camp at the designated fields across the road from the overnight halls.
- You’ll be directed to camping sites when you arrive.
- Please don’t set up early—sites have changed from previous years.
- Bring your own tent, mat, and bedding.
Community Halls (Registered Pilgrims Only)
Limited spots are available in community halls at Smeaton (Friday) and Newstead (Saturday) for women and families.
- These are warm and sheltered options but fill up quickly.
- Be mindful of space and considerate of children and larger families.
- Bring your own sleeping gear.
Limited Spaces – Register Early!
Due to high demand, hall spaces—especially for families—sell out quickly. Be sure to register early to secure your preferred accommodation option.
