Volunteering on Pilgrimage
The Christus Rex Pilgrimage exists because of volunteers. Every element—from registrations and meals to safety, sacristy, and music—is made possible by the dedication of individuals giving their time, effort, and love for Christ the King. Each year, hundreds of pilgrims walk the 90km journey from Ballarat to Bendigo. But behind the scenes, another pilgrimage takes place: one of service. Our volunteers are pilgrims too—walking, praying, and offering their labour for the good of others. Whether it’s for an hour or all weekend, every hand makes a difference. The Society has no paid staff, no office, and no outside funding. The Pilgrimage is built entirely on charity. If you can help—before, during, or after the Pilgrimage—you are not just supporting an event; you are helping souls on their journey to Heaven.
When Can I Help? Volunteers are needed before, during, and after the Pilgrimage weekend. Whether you’re walking the whole way or just joining for a day, there’s a role for you.
Who Can Volunteer? Everyone! Many volunteers are also pilgrims—so it’s absolutely possible to walk and lend a hand. If you’ve got time, skills, or just a good attitude, you’re welcome.
